This Bangladeshi style Yogurt Chicken Curry is one of the best among them. Traditionally it is called chicken kosha or kosha murgir jhol. Actually it is a very spicy chicken dish. It is the best alternative of Golbari style chicken kosha.
Ingredients
For Marination

- 1kg Fresh chicken
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp garlic paste
- 2 tsp ginger paste
- 1/4 tsp black pepper (powder)
- 2 tsp mild chili powder
- 2 tsp lemon juice
- 200gram of yogurt
- ½ tsp cumin powder
- ½ tsp garam masala
For Cooking
- 100ml mustard oil
- 2-3 onions, finely chopped
- Salt to taste
- 4 small cardamoms
- 1 inch cinnamon stick
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 2 bay leaves
- 8 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder,
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 6 green chilies, sliced
- 1 tsp garam masala, grounded
- 3tsp Fresh coriander leaves,
Cooking Steps
First cut the chicken into medium sized pieces. Wash through fresh water. You can use all parts of chicken.
Place the chicken pieces in a big size bowl to marinade. Add all the marination spices (salt, garlic paste, ginger paste, black pepper, chili powder, lemon juice, yogurt, ground garam masala and cumin powder. Mix them well then keep in a refrigerator for marination.
After marination, its time to cook the chicken curry. Heat a heavy bottom wok over medium flame. Pour 100 ml mustard oil. After enough heating the oil, add cumin seeds, cardamoms and bay leaves. Saute them for 30-40 seconds.
Add onions, garlic, coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, paprika, green chili and salt. Cook until they turned into golden brown or 6-8 minutes.
Now place the chicken pieces into spices and mix well. Cover the chicken and Cook it for 12-15 minutes. Stir them occasionally so that they do not stick to the bottom of the saucepan.
Now pour 250 ml of water in it. Cook it over high flame for 15-20 minutes. When the gravy turn thick, set the flame to low. You should make a fairly thick gravy to make it yummy.
Add garam masala powder and chopped coriander leaves. Mix thoroughly then turn off the flame.
