Role of food in increasing memory

Your brain is what keeps your body going. So you must provide all the necessary nutrients to keep it healthy and active. Food plays one of the most important roles in this. Food keeps our brain agile and improves specific mental tasks, such as memory and concentration.

In this article, we will talk about some of the best food to increase memory power.

  1. Fatty fish

 

Salmon, trout, and sardines are a rich source of omega–3 fatty acids. Our brain uses these omega-3 fatty acids to make brain and nerve cells, which are essential for learning and memory. Omega-3 fatty acids also slow mental decline and reduce the risks of Alzheimer’s. An insufficient amount of these beneficial fatty acids can lead to learning impairments and depression. Eating fish leads to the production of grey matter in the brain, which improves memory, decision-making, and emotions.

  1. Turmeric

 

This is native to Indians. This yellow spice is a rich source of antioxidants and has anti-inflammatory properties. Curcumin, which is the active ingredient in turmeric, is beneficial for people with Alzheimer’s as it improves memory and also clears the amyloid plaques that are a hallmark of this disease. It increases serotonin and dopamine levels, which in turn improves mood and decreases depression. It also helps to grow new brain cells.

  1. Eggs

 

Eggs are a rich source of protein. Along with that, they have several nutrients beneficial for brain health, such as Vitamin B6 and B12, folate, and chlorine. Chlorine is linked to better memory and brain function, and the egg yolk has these beneficial nutrients in ample quantities. B vitamins slow the rate of brain decline in older people and cure depression.

  1. Nuts

There are several nutrients in nuts such as healthy fats, antioxidants, vitamin E boost brain health. Vitamin E helps in slowing brain decline. Nuts such as almonds and walnuts are a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids.

  1. Dark chocolate

Dark chocolate and cocoa powder are packed with some memory-boosting ingredients such as antioxidants, caffeine and flavonoids. These flavonoids in the chocolate take care of memory and learning. Studies reveal that those who eat chocolate perform better in mental tasks and have a better memory.

  1. Oranges

Oranges are a rich source of vitamin C. They are vital for brain health since vitamin C helps in preventing mental decline. Vitamin C, which is a powerful antioxidant can help in fighting free radicals that destroy brain cells.

  1. Green tea

Green tea improves memory, alertness, performance, and focus. It contains caffeine which boosts brain health. It is also rich in polyphenols and antioxidants which protect the brain from decline and is helpful for those with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. In short, it improves memory.

There are many memory boosting foods beneficial for brain function. Tea and coffee contain antioxidants that protect the brain from damage. Eggs and nuts support brain memory and development. In short, these improve the alertness of the brain and brain function.
